About this collection
I used to be interested in tennis, and even to play it rather well. I’ve adopted my passion for it from my father who was a master of sports. But I also love tennis for its spectacularity and special aestheticism, which constitute its main appeal. The impression from Caroline’s play prompted me to create a series of works. Her image and the energetics of her moves appeared to be in tune with my sentiments at the moment. The expression, the play, the graphics, the sexuality – it all clicked.
The works have been performed using a complicated technique of combining acrylic paints and silk screening on the canvas, which produces a unique tactile effect. The glass print version, with a special 3D effect due to two-sided printing, has been manufactured in limited series. The shine of the glass and the saturation of the color convey the sensations of the vivid and dynamic action.
